Two string knitted socks

1983, Svetozar Popovic, Knjazevac / Part of the folk costume

Men’s two-string knitted socks, rich in ornaments, are knitted of two-colour yarn. Two-string knitting is the old technique “exactly” for making socks made of domestic wool, with the use of 5 needles with which two strings (yarn) of different colours are intertwined so as to form a two-string ornament (pattern). The basic parts of a sock are the foot and the upper part. The stockings are knitted from the top of the foot towards the heel. Late 19th century
